They’re everywhere!

I moved back to this sleepy little burg in Oregon, about a year ago. I moved here to get away from the insanity of Las Vegas, where I was living. And also, the insanity of most of the world in general, to be honest. I fled like a flea from an insecticide factory (36 hours, driving the u-haul solo, door to door). For the most part, things have been as expected; dull, dreary, and wonderfully quiet, beautiful and peaceful. Until today. Today the world (and associative crazies) encroached back upon me, a little closer than I care for.
I was having either a bad hair day or just an attack of the lazies and I decided to drive my car the 7 or so blocks to the mini mart, to retrieve my addiction of choice…Usually this is a ten minute round trip, simple as pie, situation. Oh no, not today! As I came to 10th Street & Hwy 101, about to make my right turn, I realized the entire 101 Hwy had been diverted with orange cones and there were vehicles of all shapes and sizes, with flashing lights, everywhere!! I had wondered why I saw two Police cruisers and a Sheriff’s wagon in the 6 blocks since I had left home…..
Well, with an educated guess, I quickly deduced this was no place I either wanted or needed, to be. I scurried around it all, as fast as possible and went to the mini mart through a back way, which was also clogged with cars, more so than the average tourist season allows.
I parked and left the windows down for my dog and since I was only going to be less than a minute. I didn’t bother locking the doors. I live in a town with a basic population of <10,000. One usually doesn’t have to be frightened and paranoid someone is going to be in the back seat with an axe, when you return..and who’s gonna steal my hunk-o-junk anyway? Even though it IS mine….but I digress.
So, I walk into the store and I make the comment, “wow, what an accident that must have been.” The girl behind the counter quickly corrects me: “Oh, that’s no accident, it’s about the bomb threat.” I look at her perplexed and ask “bomb threat? I’ve had the radio on all day and I haven’t heard anything about that!” She proceeds to inform me that not only does she not have my particular brand of addiction until tomorrow, that we were “threatened with a bomb at the Military Recruiting Office, two blocks down.”
Lovely. So now I get to stew about the crazies blowing my ass up and will have no last cigarette, before the firing squad .
Now I know why I wasted the gasoline.
I do not miss stupid people. Axes or otherwise.
I’ll drink to that……
Zeitgeist

As I just spent two hours of my life watching this, I refer you to this movie: Zeitgeist. Those into conspiracy theories and “reality” probably already saw it.
While I see the propaganda in it, I would definitely recommend it. Just because it generally disproves religion, history and current affairs all in one spot. Which is definitely something that most people should already acknowledge but don’t. It’s kind of how I feel when I look at elections and churches: If you think any of it really matters or can be manipulated, you’re terribly mistaken since “they” are already ages ahead of you.
We should all come from a place where we disbelieve our power to change the current structure and the lies of religion we are fed. Yet at the same time realize that it’s all a very big picture of a small manipulation. We still have our lives to live and our cell phones that make pancakes, therefore while we may be under the manipulated control of evil people, we can still grow and develop as a human was meant to. Buck the system, but never disavow your own soul’s natural journey.

Madonna’s entire new album just went up on her Myspace. Boy am I glad I didn’t buy it. I couldn’t even get through the entire 12 tracks without skipping. Then there’s Justin Timberlake chiming in on random tracks with, “Hey Madonna! Madonna … Madonna…” I know who she is you fool. Knock it off.
I’m just so disgusted with the formula that you only have to have three good songs on an album. Your singles are all that count, the rest is drab and nobody ever mentions it. You might as well just buy singles. You are rarely ever missing anything. You never hear (especially Madonna) that you have to get the album because there’s this song that is just awesome. No. Never. Any song on her albums that is worth listening to will become a single.
My favorites are Candy Shop, 4 Minutes and … I can’t even pick a third. This album sucks. It’s like American Life, but at least American Life had meaning to it. What really bites is that this one will sell millions because it sounds like American Life but has less meaning to it than a ball of cotton candy.
Reading the comments on her Myspace I see these kids saying they’re saving up for the box set. Suddenly I am my mother yelling, “Don’t spend your allowance on that trash!”
Madonna lost it after Erotica. She lost it so bad that it scares me because that means people who are really adventurous all stop venturing after so long. Fucking boring.

I am registered Green Party. I have been ever since I went West Coast. I’ve said it before, they make the most sense. If only they had the right direction … and a candidate. Any candidate. Not a corpse or wilting flower.
I think that would be a fabulous platform for change. I think the system needs a shot in the arm like the Green Party. If only they had the back bone. I think now more than ever people are interested in beefing up this party into something that can be a formidable front runner. Unfortunately all those hippies are about to get very unhappy with what we’ll be doing with their party over the next eight years to make it a formidable candidate.
Mark my words. I’d bet on this one!

I remember when I used to turn my cell phone off. Every evening before bed and sometime all week long. I was afraid I’d over use it.
Now I can’t stand not having a key pad to text on. I need picture, video, calendar and voice. I need rings and constant connectivity. I need, “Oh my gawd, Becky, did you hear about so n’ so!?” It’s our warning that the boss is coming. It’s the boredom reducer in the middle of nothing. I live in a Devil Wears Prada world and it’s just what comes with these days. Everyone, gird your loins!
Turn it off? TURN IT OFF!? You’ve lost your mind. I would never push that button now.
We’ve come a long way, baby. As we continue to set ourselves up for self defeat when technology is no more. I’m okay with that …

Sex Work
Posted by The Artist D on February 26th, 2008 filed in CultureComment now »
I’ve always felt that I have had a great bond and relationship with the sex industry. Porn stars, directors, sex phone operators, Madames and Dominatrixes are all friends close to my heart. Being an ex-mistress myself I remember the sense of family we all shared.
Lately I’ve come across some amazing blogs written by porn stars. Not completely sexually based and all available for public consumption. I will have to add these to our blog role here within the next few days.
One thing that I find amazing is once you dig into this world you see that this too is very serious art. Directing porn is rarely a walk in the park if you’re trying to actually make something quality. Straight and gay alike have plenty of people blogging that are focused on more than getting off. One of my favorite reads is Brent Corrigan. His story fascinates me and I think he is turning into one of the more deeper players in the adult industry. I like someone with a story and his is very interesting. Seeing his ambition and knowing where he wants to go with his career, I think he’ll be one of the few from this generation that will be able to write a Jenna Jameson sized autobiography some day.
There’s a lot more to the adult industry and the stories go beyond sorted tragic tales. There’s a life after the rough time and if you can live through it to formulate yourself into a serious professional, you should be respected. Picture it as the life of Britney Spears. If Britney lives passed this odd and seemingly very dangerous time in her life, she will become a power house because she made it, broke down and then made it again. That template is what I compare every good artist with. There’s one thing to be said if you make it. There’s another to be said when you lose your marbles from all the things you did while trying to make it. If you live passed that and become a solid hard working artist, then you have my respect and ultimate pat on the head.
Gone Baby Gone

“Gone Baby Gone, ” Ben Affleck’s directorial debut, is nothing short of a masterpiece. This film is an intense, gritty, REAL LIFE piece of work, encompassing some of the most difficult aspects of our civilization. Warning: If you are upset easily by the truth of how many people live, ie: in and around “the projects”, daily drug and alcohol abuse, and namely, missing and exploited children, this film may not be for you. If you can stomach these truths, I recommend watching this brilliant piece of work. The cast includes such notables as Casey Affleck, Morgan Freeman, Ed Harris, Michelle Monaghan and my personal favorite, Amy Ryan, who portrays the mother, Helene, with such spot on reality, I wanted to leap through the screen and strangle her! Ms. Ryan has been nominated for an Academy award, and in this writers opinion, she should win the prize. Click on the link below, for more information:

Kathy Griffin: Too Fake For Me
Posted by The Artist D on February 13th, 2008 filed in CultureComment now »
I don’t like Kathy Griffin. After reading her latest interview in The Advocate I find her even less desirable than before. I agree that she is funny and her show is quite fabulous, but I don’t like that this woman is clearly an act. In review after review, even in this latest article, it is made clear that what you see on TV is what you get in person. For most people this would be great, but since everything we see on TV of Kathy is so comedic it makes her look very troubled that she is that way in her actual life.
I want to know Kathy’s motivation. I think it was Rosie O’Donnell or someone else in a very similar genre who once said Kathy seemed a bit hungry for money and perpetually in the state of feeling financially insecure. She works and works, it’s all she does. In all her interviews she acts no different than her stage act. She even faked falling out of a car in London to get featured in the papers. She has made statements that as long as these things draw her shows more attention then she is happy. Her Emmy acceptance speech actually sounds like her honest truth after reviewing the rest of her actions.
I’d like to believe this means she’s a totally different person behind closed doors. If so, then this makes her a total fake and I don’t think people like that. It’s one thing to play a certain role or character, but to hide every bit of who you are is kind of unattractive. If she really is in her private life as we see her in the spot light, then I think that is a very disturbed individual who can not face facts of reality.
I always hate getting into discussions about how much a person really needs to acknowledge reality. I haven’t a clue how much acknowledgment makes a person true to themselves. I certainly am one to talk as most think I live on a different planet. I suppose the line is drawn when to every serious question comes a response in the form of a joke. When I read Kathy’s interviews I see that is status quo with her.
The article in The Advocate actually dwells quite a bit about how the interviewer can not seem to dig beneath the surface. In fact while they feature Kathy Griffin as their centerfold story and photo spread, I felt the article painted her horribly instead of as an honored hard working comedienne.
Webmasters to the Stars (Suck!)

Hey Everybody! I just wanted to let you know that Charlotte and I have just released our ninth broadcast. This one is all about Valentines day. It’s a real hoot and a half. Our recordings have greatly improved since our immaculate conception. You can download our show from Podomatic by clicking here. The show format has changed a bit as we are only doing hour broadcasts. This seems to work better for us talking and for you listening!
I’m working on a lot of updates for The Artist D and The Fabulous D Show websites. I want much more available to you. I also want to start having many more discussions on the new upcoming magazine!
As for the subject of this entry. Has anyone ever noticed how bad webmasters are that take care of websites for some of Hollywood’s greatest? Annie Lennox’s site has been down of a programming error for weeks now. Annie was posting quite often before that, hasn’t anyone noticed? Dave Stewart’s site is still under construction. The list is really endless to how many errors or lack of updates there are to some of the best blogging stars of today. I can’t complain too much. It takes me ages to update my site and as I’ve already mentioned, blogging is actually rather difficult to do on a regular basis. I suppose my theory is I’m the one doing it. These people are paying others (probably way too much money) to do things really half assed. It’s a shame!
Head Cold
Posted by The Artist D on February 5th, 2008 filed in Culture1 Comment »
I find colds and other such catchable quickly passing viruses absolutely maddening. It makes no sense in the grand scheme. If we need to develop things that are going to kill us then let it end there. STD’s, heart disease, lung cancer, stepping on one too many rusty nails and perhaps whatever one catches from sharing a hair brush are all perfectly acceptable health problems. Those make sense. The common cold does not. We get something stuck in us for a few days or a week. It makes our noses run and by the end of it all we’re usually coughing up hair balls. Yeah, that makes sense.
I know it may make sense viewing things with a tone of logic. Colds etc. help build our immune system and all that business. But seriously, couldn’t we have just been built to automatically avoid these things? How fucking annoying.
Cruising RuPaul.com last night I saw the fine built stud in this video talking about how “the entire world seems to be sick right now.” He’s right and if you can stop staring at his torso and the perfectly shaped buldge under his sweatpants you might take home a great recipe for some immune-building soup.
It seems I’ve been hiding from other people’s germs for months now. Everyone at my office and around me in my home life seems to be an infectious pile of germs these days. Being a germaphobe I can easily see that people hardly take care of themselves mentally, externally and internally. I think most people think it’s silly but I truly believe every day is a battle against falling victim to germs, diseases and mental breakdowns. Like the hunk linked above I would now like to share some of my tips and tricks for achieving wellness while still living a slightly lethargic and comfortable lifestyle. . .
- The key to not catching something directly can definitely be found in hand washing. Stop sharing shit, dipping your hands in the same food bowls and shaking hands because it’s polite. Get your hands away from me! If you touch me I’m going to go disinfect the area you just touched. I’m not being rude, I just don’t know who else you’ve been touching.
- My regular vitamin regime includes taking one to two capsules of Echinacea and Vitamin D per day. I will take a Vitamin C tablet once or twice a week. Every three days I will take Airborne. If I start to feel like I’m coming down with something I’ll take all of the above several times a day until things clear up. I could and I’m sure it is suggested to do all of the above on a daily basis but I feel that it would make the body lazy and therefore have a hard time fighting off stuff when you do get it.
- Hot spicy foods are a must. It is my obsessive paranoid opinion that spicy food, hot sauce and raw onions chase away all sorts of things and keep the body ticking. While we’re talking about my obsessive paranoia, I also strongly believe that copious amounts of alcohol will cure anything that ails you. If all else fails, drink yourself into a whiskey stupor and pray you wake up in the morning, not just alive, but better!
- For the mental portion of your health you should not be so high strung. There are so few reasons to get upset and yet everyone does so often. Keep a clear head people! Stop being so damn fucked off about stale bread.
- Stop eating crap. You know, I may be mildly overweight with “a few extra pounds” but you don’t see me eating crap. If I’m packing on the calories it’s from natural every day meats, produce and wheat products. No candy. No chips. None of this completely processed stuff. If it didn’t start off in the ground or walking around I probably don’t want to eat it.
All this with a light dash of mild exercise (get up and dance a bit each day, do 20 crunches, lift some weights) and you can maintain a healthy body of work without really doing much of anything at all. The last thing I’ll tell you to do is hit the gym, count calories or really honestly care about your oncoming death due to living. I actually just wish people would wash their hands more and take their vitamins. The rest is a personal preference.
Jealousy is Blue Green

I have to tell you that I’m terribly jealous of the bloggers that update every day. I’m jealous of the stars in which can update daily with project news or a new trip they have taken. I’m even more jealous of the normal folk whom go to work, go home and can always seem to come up with blog-fodder. I am a blog veteran but I can’t seem to keep a regularly updated blog to save Heath Ledger’s life.
That’s all going to change today. I feel change in the air, hovering desperately over all our lives. A select few most definitely, myself included. I think that by the time this year concludes itself we will I feel that we will all be standing on the precipice of a totally different outlook. Not just an outlook, but we will have a perception of hindsight that we know not of now. I have created this blog with the intentions of it helping me upkeep my projects and also help keep you up too. While I am the one powering the blog, the blog is sort of powering me. By knowing it is here, I can better have a reason to stay on top of things.
Here’s to becoming a blogger whom can blog.
The Generations of Shellhammer

I pick and choose my family. Personally just as we’re born and the rest is drag, so is the family we end up with. If you don’t like it, you can change it. Thankfully I was given a handful of blood relatives I can be very proud of. There are very few Shellhammers that can live up to the fabulous status and artistic potential that people like me have been a template for.
First there was Bradford. Then there is me. Some day there will be Maris. She is my almost equally talented real cousin whom is currently fine-tuning her skills to become the next most fabulous & famous one of the Shellhammer blood line. I can see it in her eyes and her fabulous art work.
Mark my words! After I am old and my wigs have turned to platinum, there will be Maris! And she’s got little to worry about because there can only be one artistic fabulous one of us per generation. Plus I endorse her, like a Presidential candidate. She has my vote to follow in my fabulousness.
Pocketful of Sunshine

Winter is the loveliest time for me. I say that because it’s all I can say about the months between October and March. It’s simply lovely. Perhaps because I am an artist and no matter how cold it gets or how tragic things become, you can always look out over a dead landscape and feel alive.
Last winter I was in love with Natasha Bedingfield’s first album, Unwritten. This winter I am in love with what I’ve heard so far of Natasha’s latest album called Pocketful of Sunshine. She is so positive and yet angry in a calmly sad way. Her voice is so clear, but has that little rough edge on certain tracks. She is the most uplifting singer I have welcomed into my world since Anastacia.
I have had so many love affairs to Natasha’s music. It’s the perfect theme song for a smoldering relationship in the dead cold of winter.

I have a long and tumultuous history with P!nk’s hit song Get This Party Started. It has recently been covered by Dame Shirley Bassey. What a fox! Don’t tell me she is still turning out amazing videos like this! At age 70!? You go girl. Shirley is still hot.
Coincidentally Get This Party Started can also be linked back to the first song I ever saw performed in drag live. It was sitting in an enamored audience watching Danyel Vasqueze perform this hit. I should say this hit, before it was ever a hit! Danyel performed it before it was practically released! Which lead to me wanting to actually become a drag queen. Which lead us to who knows what …
Circe’s Power

A favorite of mine:
I never turned anyone into a pig.
Some people are pigs; I make them
look like pigs.
I’m sick of your world
that let’s the outside disguise the inside. Your men weren’t bad men;
undisciplined life
did that to them. As pigs,
under the care of
me and my ladies, they
sweetened right up.
Then I reversed the spell, showing you my goodness
as well as my power. I saw
we could be happy here, as men and women are
when their needs are simple. In the same breath,
I foresaw your departure,
your men with my help braving
the crying and pounding sea. You think
a few tears upset me? My friend,
every sorceress is
a pragmatist at heart; nobody sees essence who can’t
face limitation. If I wanted only to hold you
I could hold you prisoner.

Hello Darling,
A few months back my friend D’Fabulous gave me a CD of yours to listen to. I was awestruck. Up until that day, the last female vocalist to perk up my ears had been Diana Krall, years and years before. I was excited that there was a new voice on the scene, with so much power, emotion, depth and raw sensuality.
Then I saw a photo of you. Again, I was so pleased. You didn’t appear to be a “Blonde Hollywood Barbie.” You are normally beautiful. Very, very beautiful.
As the months progressed I read a little of you here and there. How Karl Lagerfeld was using your “look” to purport his own (evil?) empire. How you had garnered a few awards in Britain…and even Grammy nominations..quite a few of them! Alas, along with this information, the press just had to include “the rest of the personal story,” didn’t they.
Initially I thought it might be hype to go along with your song “rehab”, but it became clear that this may well not be the case.
Amy, darling, I’ve been around the block a coupla times, so I’ve seen too many people pass, way before their time. Great, wonderfully talented people, gone much too soon. This year we’ve had, oh 50 or so, go the way of the clouds….I’ve been holding my breath that one of them won’t be you! Don’t do it! Don’t let the nonsense get in the way! People like us need people like you, to listen to, to find that moment in our day where something feels like it connects. When we put in that CD or hear your voice on the radio, it’s like a call from a long lost lover. Be careful, ok!
Love,
Charlotte

This afternoon I was doing some major house cleaning while listening to Seduction. I love me some Michelle Visage from the good ol’ days of Seduction, Lovely Day and The RuPaul Show. With the light streaming through the windows, the up tempo beat and me in my stilletos while dusting the bunnies … something just felt right with the world.
I really wish they’d put The RuPaul Show on DVD. I swear upon a stack of screaming queens that VH-1 has absolutely no idea how much money they are missing by not putting The RuPaul Show and The Surreal Life: Season 3 on DVD. I would buy two copies of each just to show my support. In this time of everything being put on DVD you’d think they’d go through their archive and throw some gems at us. VH-1 has always been rather dumb though. I can only imagine their boardroom meetings look like something out of a clown car.
Roseanne: Older but Just As Wise
Posted by The Artist D on December 14th, 2007 filed in General FabulousnessComment now »
I was visiting one of our favorite divas tonight, Roseanne Barr. It’s so crazy to see her so much older. We’re all dealing with age with each passing moment. I suppose Roseanne has just always remained untouchable to me. I’ve always thought she was awesome and ageless.
Her site is full of fabulous things. Her blog is awesome. She really is a major player as the center of the universe and definitely an alien like the rest of us fabulous creatures.
Her vlogs and random statements are very pushy. I have always enjoyed her most because no matter what happens she’s always so pushy! Even when she doesn’t intend to be so. Roseanne is naturally pushy. I like that.
I remember that in my household growing up I wasn’t particularly allowed to watch Roseanne, the show. Thankfully I grew up in a household where rules were almost expected to be broken. That is what rules are for after all. I think my parents always knew that in the back of their heads. They felt obligated to raise me right but hoped all the while that I would break down all the boundaries they set.
I have.
Later, I recall absolutely adoring The Roseanne Show, which was a talk show. She was so cosmic and inspirational. Looking back on it I never thought it got much notice or had a fanbase, but reading about it now it sounds like it was quite the show. That’s good. It deserved that!
Roseanne is awesome. We should all still be listening to her.
Generosity is Often Slight Stupidity
Posted by The Artist D on December 5th, 2007 filed in RantsComment now »
Headline news in Las Vegas this morning; a man falls to his death while working on a new condo project. At his funeral last week folks donated a bounty of money as folks at funerals tend to do. The man will be buried “properly” in Texas. The money was both for this reason and surely more. One of his fellow employees that spoke at the funeral has allegedly ended up stealing all of the donations.
A horrendous act by a human being – absolutely. Yes, this is a tragedy for a local family who just lost their dad. No doubt about it that this guys is a piece of trash for running off with “$5,000 to $14,000 in donations” after speaking at the guy’s funeral!
The local radio station has held a campaign all morning for donations to get this family back the money they have lost. Thousands of people have been lining up all morning at several locations to give their lunch money and much more. Some businesses donated a few thousand, other fellow contractors gave “a helluva lot” and you can imagine that they are already at a total which exceeds the possible $14,000 lost.
I can’t help but think about everyone else during this time. They’ve said a lot of things about this man being a great human being who deserved all of Las Vegas’ generosity. What about all the other great men who get nothing? How about all the other budding families in America that have lost the head breadwinner this year? I think about the children without a proper Christmas just as much as I think about the grieving wives or husbands who have lost their partner any time of year, with not one mention of their loss or misfortune on the radio.
Before you think I’m a terrible person, I only have one major thing to say about all of this. What happens when the thief is caught and the money is returned? I’ve seen this happen time and time again, especially since I have been in Las Vegas. Common people everywhere have a tragedy occur to them. People get their homes robbed or major possessions stolen and there is an outpouring of affection from the community. Two weeks later their possessions have been found, unharmed, and they get to keep the thousands donated to them. The news covers it all and sums it up by saying something like, “well, they deserved all that money anyway even though they got their stuff back!”
If this was a court case they would be arguing something about how you can’t make someone more than whole. You’ve been robbed and the robber needs to pay you back, but you can’t make more than you lost. Court is to make you whole. You don’t get any extra pie.
We don’t know the outcome of this story yet. We are not sure if this family will get any of the stolen money back. It is a fact that they deserved to have a lot of money donated to them for this tragedy. I can tell by what they were saying on the radio during the collection this morning that they have raised at least $20,000. The question is do they deserve all of it? These people gave it to this family knowing the circumstances so yes they do deserve to keep it. But in the laws of nature do they deserve to keep it and the money that was stolen? This is if they get the money back.
They kept saying that it doesn’t matter if they met their goal for this morning, just keep sending it in as it could go towards his child’s college fund. This was not a fund raiser for his kid’s college. It was mainly so this man could have his proper burial in Texas and so that the family can get along for a little while without dad.
I only feel a certain embitterment about these situations because I do know the other side of the coin. I know that for every one person America pulls together and helps there are countless thousands that are being ignored. It bothers me that it takes reporting a story on a radio show to get people off their asses and freely handing over hundreds of their hard earned money. Do these people regularly give to charity? Are they handing a hundred to the homeless man on the corner? Would they cut their friends a thousand dollar check if they knew they needed it? A lot of them probably would, but I’m betting there’s a whole lot of hypocrites in the mix here doing it because it took a broadcast and a campaign to discover their warm hearted nature.
In this country where “we’re starving” and “can’t afford it” we can all of a sudden do a lot of the things we said we couldn’t whenever we choose to. Americans are not poor, they are largely deprived by choice.
We need to have fund raisers for those who have been taken advantage of but there needs to be a time when they say “stop, our goals have been met, now go out and give that to someone else who needs it!” There comes a time when the robbed have been rightfully paid back and it becomes a waste of money. People who suffer and get put on a pedestal end up becoming more than whole from their situation.
What I would like to see is that family having a head on their shoulders and using the money they receive for the intention it was meant for before they knew how much they were going to be getting from the community. Then take the remainder and do something charitable with it themselves. This was not for Little Johnny’s college fund. They’ve no doubt got enough to pay for the funeral and go towards a year’s worth of personal expenses. Make a responsible decision, take even more than you think you deserve, but just don’t be greedy.
At final reported total there has been $33,000 donated. This does not include anything sent in via direct deposit after the morning collection had ceased.

Pete is an amazing person. I think he is the most beautiful man on the planet. Those big lips and perfectly shaped everything do it for me. If he wasn’t married to his Michael I’d have booked a ticket to Europe upon his departure from the Celebrity Big Brother UK house and insisted on flattering him.
I snatched up his autobiography, Freak Unique, the moment I heard it was available. I had it air mailed from “over there,” which really should show some dedication. Something like that!
I would absolutely suggest to you the most official and fabulous Pete Burns / Dead or Alive site online today entitled THE RIGHT STUFF. After you read his autobiography you’ll need that link to obtain everything that is Pete!
Darren Hayes is Gay, Finally

I’ve waited half my life for this. Darren Hayes, ex-front man of Savage Garden and all-around amazing musician, has finally casually stepped out of the closet on Myspace. Introducing “his fella” in his photo gallery. It’s never been that much of a secret of Darren’s orientation. He just refused to make a big deal about it. It’s just that not saying one way or another dashed our hopes of ever being swept away by this knight in shining beat box.
Darren Hayes has come out with a lot of amazing music since his famed Savage Garden days. His 2004 release, The Tension and the Spark, all but became the theme song and background music to all of my days living in California. He has just released his latest album titled This Delicate Thing We’ve Made. The single sounds amazing. I can’t wait to hear the rest.
Darren has good music. Darren is hot. His fella is damn lucky.

I have spent a bit of this day and then night watching this new sci-fi series Afterworld. I saw the pilot on Myspace and was terribly unimpressed since it’s very cartoon/3-D/SimCity. Yet after watching a few of the episodes I was hooked. The art of it all is rather impressive too. Knowing how they did all that still left me with the knowledge that they worked hard on this. Whoever they are.
Currently they have all the episodes online and the series is only half way through. It must have taken a total of five to six hours to get through what is on there now. They are only shorts, but very filling and story-telling.
Go see!

Hello Darlings, Charlotte here.
Now that we are past the bewitching hour of one of the most mysterious of Holidays (Sawain excluded, ‘natch) , I want to take this moment to greet all of you and say; HELLO! Welcome to our site and our show. We are so pleased to have you. Thank you for tuning in!!
For all the curious types, the answer is, NO! I did not partake of turkey and the traditional fare. Instead, I purchased large shrimp (Scampi) and king crab legs and created a different type of feast for myself. But first, you start with a little olive oil
Add garlic, butter, white pepper. Adorn the plate with couscous…and greenie beanies, for that “traditional” American touch (no, honey, not the casserole, just the beanies). All whilst sipping on some of the most wonderful, cheapie Carlo, on the planet and watching 12-15 ft pacific ocean wave crests, out of my kitchen window. No gun shots, no ambulance and police sirens….a pleasant day. Thank you. I am blessed. No dessert required (I’ll talk later about what little “traditional” family I have left, that were too “busy” to talk to moi! hahahha….that rant comes later, so stay tuned!).
BECAUSE, as we say “don’t get me started!” But for today, things are calm, cool and collected. No reason getting on a soapbox today.
An update on the creation collective; my new book is in the works, as are a few paintings, so be on the lookout kiddoes, some very fun and interesting stuff is coming your way, soon. Be sure to check out “D’s” art and writings as well. I know there will be something there that sparks your interest, if not “flips your pancake!”
Blessed be……

Getting Her Colour Back

I consider Annie Lennox to be one of the smartest people on this planet. I think she knows too much and I think she knows that. Her past few years have just been absolutely haunting. The affairs of the planet have really taken a toll on her. Her last album was great, but she was very reflective. Her latest album is super star awesome! She’s taken her knowledge by the horns and I think this is the strongest catalog of music she’s ever produced. The album cover is inspirational to me. While the album is deep and the artwork is too, she’s gotten colour back in her life. All that fire and fabulousness, that’s what I like to see!
I’d have to say all the music is moving, but “Sing” strikes me most. Madonna does some strange backup vocals. You can not hear her for much and I don’t know why everyone is making a big deal that it’s a duet. I wouldn’t call it that. I guess it’s with several artists, but none of them are really all that much featured. Hmm.

Blogging is a thing of the past which became far too popular. I think it’s a thing of the past now. Personal blogs are going out of style again … so what a better time to start mine back up! This one has a very special purpose. It’s the blog for our radio show, The Fabulous D Show where you can find Charlotte Bukowski and I belting truth out for all to hear.
Charlotte will be with us soon enough and hopefully we can get into the blog world again. Much more to come as far as links, photos and more!
